BuzzFeed
What started as a small New York startup with a random collection of internet nerds developed into global media and technology powerhouse.
As BuzzFeed's Director of Creative Operations I was tasked with quickly scaling up a small creative team and its branded offerings.
Leveraging agency experience, analytical planning, collaborative tech tools, and a whole lot of teamwork, our team grew in size and capabilities. What was a small squad of writers evolved into a comprehensive roster of strategists, creative directors, designers, animators, photographers, copy editors, and producers.
In addition to building and leading the team, I represented the department cross-functionally, working hand in hand with sellers, account managers, planners, finance, analytics, tech, and others to ensure that our offering was best-in-class.
We structured to innovate- meaning that inspiration didn't come solely from RFPs. We continuously developed new products and content strategies to provide solutions for a huge portfolio of partners.
Additionally, I ensured that the team was progressing and learning. Through classes, workshops, wikis, mentoring, and activities everyone continuously picked up new skillsets. There's no reason a writer can't learn to use Creative Suite or assist with a photoshoot.
I'm proud of what the creative team was able to accomplish, and grateful to have spent 3 brilliant years at BuzzFeed.
